When first building your LinkedIn account, it is important to include as much information about yourself and work history. Be sure to enter any awards, honors, and certificates you’ve received along with your hobbies and interests. Think of this as your online business card. People, especially if they are going to work with you, are interested in knowing more about you.

Make Connections:

LinkedIn etiquette dictates you only connect with people you know. If you would like to connect with someone you have not met, send them an inMail (an email through LinkedIn’s site) or ask for an introduction from one of you colleagues (as long as they know the person already).

Profile Tips:

Summarize yourself. With a well written summary about yourself, think of this as your elevator pitch to people who don’t know you, can add value to you and your business.

Profiled Picture. Your professional picture is important for making a good first impression. Make sure you pick a picture with you looking your best.
