Social media is an amazing platform to connecting with others. With the creation of the internet and social media, we are seeing people sharing ideas and marketing their brands in a creative and, sometimes, surprising ways.

When you want to create a social media community, the best way to begin is to know where to find people to connect with. An example, for real estate, the best platforms to promote your brand is on YouTube, Facebook and blogging.

Join other communities to chat with others and build your online reputation as trustworthy and capable. While you are engaging with others across the social platform, it is vital that you be yourself. People can tell when you are being fake with them, even in the digital world, and that will turn them off to you. Plus, the more you put yourself out there, the more interesting and engaging your videos and blog will be.

Connect with others. Don’t be afraid to comment on someone’s blog, respond to a Facebook post, and just get other there. An important reminder about social media, don’t discourage people from following you by constantly pushing yourself on them. Social media marketing isn’t about selling, but networking with others.

Create interesting content. I have a friend who is in a band and although the band is really good, their social media sucks because it is all about them. Bring some value and creativity to your social networks by posting interesting articles, videos that are entertaining, and don’t forget the power of a simple picture. Selfies are hugely popular right now, have some fun and make them unique to you and your business.

Let us know what you think. What are some ways you’ve used social media to connect with others? What is your favorite social media platform?
